Women's Cursillo #269 presented an English Women's Cursillo on Feb. 26-March 1 at the Bishop Drury Cursillo Center. The Cursillo is held biannually, usually two for men and two for women. The primary purpose is a small course in Christianity, promoting the Catholic Faith, through small group sharing.
A total of 15 "rollos," or talks, are given; religious put on five talks, and 10 talks are given by the lay faithful. The three-day weekend is held locally for the Diocese of Corpus Christi, but participants came from as far away as the Rio Grande Valley. Local parishes participating include, St. Joseph, Ss. .Cyril & Methodius, St. Patrick, St. Anthony, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Corpus Christi Cathedral, St. Phillip the Apostle, Christ the King and St. Joseph in Alice.
The English women's Cursillo team includes Gloria Franco, Blanca Flores, Sister Jo Ann Saenz, IWBS, Connie Cabrera, Melinda Martinez, Alma Ruiz, Assistant Coordinator Molly De La Fuente and Coordinator Irma Padilla.
