Corpus Christi Cathedral Youth Choir will sing at the International Congress of Pueri Cantores in Washington D.C. in July and Lee Gwozdz, the Diocesan Director of the Office of Divine Worship for the Diocese of Corpus Christi, will conduct a choir of 800 singers from all over the world.
As part of this international festival, the Corpus Christi Cathedral Youth Choir will be the main choir to sing for the July 4th parade in front of the White House. They will sing “Homeland“ and a new arrangement of “America the Beautiful” by Eugene Gwozdz.
The youth will also sing at a Prayer for Peace Ceremony at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial where they will sing the World Premiere of "I Have a Dream” by Earl Wilson, Jr. a song reflecting the words of the late Martin Luther King, Jr.
On July 6 the choir will sing at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, joining other choirs throughout the world.
This will be the first time a youth choir from Texas has participated in this international festival. The Cathedral Youth Choir is also one of two choirs from the United States chosen by an international jury to perform for the Star Concert at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. on July 5.
