The Blessed John Paul II Centurions host the Banquete Bulldogs Friday, Sept. 6, for their second outing of the 2013 season. The Centurions fell to the Taft Greyhounds 48-0 in their season opener. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Last Friday's score was not the one fans were hoping for but the enthusiasm never dwindled. Students and fans remain hopeful for the remainder of the season.
Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey opened the ceremonies with a blessing for both teams during the invocation prayer which was followed by a first throw of the football by Mayor Pro Tem Mark Scott to school chaplain Father Patrick Higgins.
The young football team consists of novice players with lots of heart and hope. Coach Mario Vasquez is leading the team this season as their new football coach.
