The Diocese of Corpus Christi Catholic Committee on Scouting is sponsoring a Catholic Scouting Day of Recollection on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 1-5 p.m. at St. Pius X Church. The theme for this year is Our Lady of Guadalupe.
All currently registered Wolf, Bear and Webelos Cub Scouts and Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts are invited to attend. Tigers and Daisies are too young to attend.
Preregistration is required and acceptance will be limited to first 100 scouts who register. The day will include crafts, games and fun events having to do with the learning more about Our Lady of Guadalupe. All Scouts who attend will receive a special patch.
A $5 family fee will be taken at the door.
Mass is not part of the day's events but St. Pius X celebrates its Youth Sunday Mass at 5:30 p.m.
Another way to expand on the Catholic Scouting Day of Recollection is to to participate in the Our Lady of Guadalupe procession. All Scouts need to wear Class A uniform to participate.
The Federation of Guadalupanas of the Diocese of Corpus Christi will host the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe procession from Sacred Heart Church to Corpus Christi Cathedral on Wednesday, Dec. 12. The procession will organize at 5 p.m. and will depart at 5:30 p.m.
The Knights of Columbus will carry a large image of Our Lady of Guadalupe up to the Cathedral altar. Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey will celebrate Mass at 6:15 p.m.
Everyone is asked to bring roses to present to the Virgin of Guadalupe. After Mass there will be a reception at St. Joseph's Hall. For more information you can call Dora Hidalgo at (361) 510-1411.
Registration forms were e-mailed to Girl Scout Leaders and mailed to Cub masters, Den Leaders, Webelos Den Leaders and Pack Committee Members. Leaders and parents are needed to assist den and packs. A ratio of one adult to every four scouts attending the event is needed.
