CORPUS CHRISTI – Now in its 27th Season, the Cathedral Music Ministry of Corpus Christi Cathedral announces openings for new members in six Cathedral choirs.
Limited openings will be filled in the following Cathedral choirs: Pontifical Chorale (adult choir), Men’s Schola Cantorum, Youth Chorale (grades 8-12 and junior college), Choristers (grades 4-7), Cherub Choir (grades 1-3) and Handbell Choir (youth and adults).
“If you have the time and talent, and the particular choir has an opening – there will be a space for you in one of the finest Cathedral Music Ministries in the country,” Lee Gwozdz, Cathedral choir director said.
In addition to weekly “re-choir-ments,” choir member will sing for the Cathedral Concert Series’ production of “A Cathedral Holiday New Years Spectacular!” in December and the Centennial Concert 2012, Gwozdz said.
The Cathedral Pontifical Chorale rehearses Thursday nights from 7:15-9:30 p.m. and sings Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. Practice and performance times for the Men’s Chant Choir, Schola Cantorum, under the direction of Eddy Fernandez, are determined by membership. The Cathedral Handbell Choir, under the direction of Daniel Vasquez, rehearses every Thursday night 6-7 p.m.
The Cathedral Youth Chorale rehearses Wednesday nights 7:15 -8:45 p.m. and sings Sunday at the 12:30 p.m. Mass. The Cathedral Choristers rehearses Wednesday afternoons from 5:45-7 p.m. and also sings Sunday at the 12:30 p.m. Mass. The Cherub Choir rehearses Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and sings twice a month on Saturdays at the 5:30 p.m. Mass.

The Cathedral Music Ministry staff will contact interested individuals with orientation dates and the scheduling of a free vocal check-up.
