Care of Creation Week recognized at IWA High School

Incarnate Word Academy High School Level will recognize Care of Creation Week from Sept. 12-16 as a commitment to the love for God, love for God’s people, and love for God’s creation.
 
To kickoff Care of Creation Week, the school’s environmental club hung green ribbons across lockers after school on Friday, Sept. 9 for the student body to see on Monday.
 
The week began with a morning prayer on Monday about the importance of taking care of the environment.
 
A key message to pursue a God-centered response to environmental challenges will be the focus each day and be conveyed through morning prayers.
 
IWA High School Level will also reduce the use of electricity by reducing the use of lights in halls, offices, and classrooms throughout the week. On Thursday, Sept. 15 the high school level are encouraged to wear green shirts in support of Care of Creation week.
 
In addition, the high school level’s environmental club will be participating in a beach cleanup on Sept. 24 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Padre Island National Seashore.
 
“IWA’s determination to be, and to remind others to be, environmentally friendly is a caring example of the school’s respect for the worth of every person and for life in all its forms,” IWA High School Level Principal Jose Torres said.
