A one of its kind event is headed back to the Brush Country; the 2011 “Brush Country Bash” will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the Maxine Flournoy 3rd Coast Squadron Hanger (at the Alice International Airport).
The “Brush Country Bash” event, which raises money to support Pediatrics at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice, will be filled with shopping, food and entertainment. This event.
This year, there are six projects the “Brush Country Bash” hopes to raise money for:
Telemedicine: This exciting new state of the art equipment would allow a pediatrician at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice to show an infant patient while talking with a Neonatologist at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-South;
Neonatal Intubation Video GlideScope: The Glidescope Cobalt AVL provides a video in real-time giving a pediatrician a view of a baby or child’s obstructed airway;
Pedi Premie Simulator: The Pedi Premie is a life-like doll designed to simulate a 28 week neonate. The Pedi Premie allows medical professionals to practice and observe reactions. The Premie comes with a Code Blue Monitor which records ventilations and compressions. If correct applications are administrated the skin turns to a healthy color – if incorrect, the monitor causes the skin to turn an ominous blue color;
Neonatal and Infant Scale: This colorful and fun like scale is intriguing to children. It can be rolled into a patient’s room;
Pediatric Treatment Table: The hospital can be a scary place for children. This colorful examining table will distract and comfort frightened little ones. The table has 4 - sided storage with 3 adjustable shelves. All graphics are permanently embedded with high pressure laminate and will not peel off. Treatment tables are needed in the Emergency Department and Pediatrics; and
Child friendly Base and Wall Cabinets: Imagine little ones waiting for the doctor. They are sick or in pain. This colorful and playful cabinetry provides a fun distraction and at the same time has shelving for important medical supplies.
“We want to encourage people to come out and support our little ones. This will be fun event, one where people can shop, bid on some wonderful silent and live auction items, and support a worthy cause. The pediatric patients in our area deserve the very best,” Rose Yawn, honorary chair of this year’s event, said.
Auction Items include: a guided fishing trip on Laguna Madre and Baffin Bay; a two-night stay at the Dunes in Port Aransas; a guided hog hunt for two with rib eye dinner included; and a spike or antlerless deer hunt for two.
