City Officials and politicians came together on this crisp, sunny morning to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of the new Police Training Academy. Bishop Mulvey was invited to bless the new building, which provides the Corpus Christi Police Force with adequate training facilities, substituting the former building from 1981.
Major Paulette Guajardo emphasized how keeping the city safe is a priority in the community. Peter Zanoni, the City Manager, explained how the facility was built in partnership with Del Mar College, with a budget of $23 million. The 34,000-square-foot facility has a virtual training simulator, crime scene training rooms, a weight room, an armory and an auditorium. The 28 cadets in the current class will be the first to enjoy the new facility.
Bishop Mulvey blessed the building and all those who will use it, extending the blessing on their work to keep our city safe.
