Bishop Emeritus Edmond Carmody announced that he would move to Tyler before the end of the year where he will help Bishop Joseph Strickland, who was installed as the fourth bishop of the Diocese of Tyler on Nov. 28. Bishop Carmody was the second bishop of Tyler serving there from 1992-2000 before being named bishop of Corpus Christi.
"Bishop Carmody has served the Diocese of Corpus Christi with compassion, distinction and great love for more than a decade. While we are sad to see him go, we do know that his dedicated service and stewardship in south Texas will endure for many years in the hearts and minds of the many people he has encountered. We offer our prayers and well-wishes for him and his new work in Tyler," Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey said.
