CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Coming soon to CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline is a neuro-interventional biplane hybrid suite, offering neurologists a sophisticated imaging system to better treat stroke patients.
Many donors, including a $1 million donation from the Hughes family in Beeville, made the biplane hybrid suite possible.
“The honored patriarch of the family, Dan Hughes, lives in Beeville and is widely known as a proud ‘fightin Aggie’,” said Karen Bonner, CHRISTUS Spohn Health System Vice President of Philanthropy. Bonner added that two of Hughes’ children have joined forces with their father to make the million-dollar gift towards the creation of a neuro-interventional hybrid suite.
The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and the CHRISTUS Spohn Health System Foundation will honor the Hughes family along with other supporters for their commitment to bring the latest technology to CHRISTUS Spohn on Wednesday, Feb. 29, from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. at The Corpus Christi Yacht Club.
The Hughes family will be presented with a statuette replica of the sculpture “Christ the Healer” that stands in front of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital-Shoreline.
CHRISTUS Spohn’s annual donor societies are composed of four levels: Shepherds who give $1,000 to $2,499; Angels who give $2,500-$9,999; Guardian Angels who give $10,000-$49,999; and Archangels who contribute more than $50,000.
Also recognized are donors who give more than $100,000 cumulatively over a lifetime. The donor wall is located in the Pavilion on the long corridor exiting the ER.
“We are grateful to all of the individuals, companies and foundations who continue to partner with us to strengthen CHRISTUS Spohn’s healing ministry through philanthropy,” Bonner said.
