Archbishop Roberto Gonzalez, OFM will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving in the Corpus Christi Cathedral at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Bishop Michael Mulvey invited Archbishop Gonzalez to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of his Episcopal Ordination in the city of his first assignment as ordinary. A brief reception is planned after the Mass. Archbishop Gonzalez served as Coadjutor Bishop to Bishop Gracida, coming to the diocese in 1995. Blessed Pope John Paul II appointed him the sixth bishop of the diocese on April 1, 1997. During his brief time in the Diocese, he was active on the national and international scene of the Church, particularly on behalf of the Church in Cuba. On March 26, 1999, Pope John Paul II named him archbishop of San Juan, Puerto Rico. |
