Incarnate Word Academy's Angel Improv troupe held its first performance of the school year on Friday, Sept. 4 in the Angel Avenue Student Center. The Angel Improv troupe consists of about 20 students ranging from freshmen to seniors.
“Attendees saw hilarious sketches that the team has been working on for the past three weeks,” Jonathan Montgomery, the team’s sponsor, said.
Montgomery, who is also the high school’s theatre and speech teacher, added that IWA President and CEO Sammie Grunwald was a special guest at the performance.
“She is a naturally gifted comedienne,” Montgomery said. “She is now an honorary member of our troupe.”
By participating in improv, students gain an increase in confidence, improve their public speaking skills, gain comfort in social settings, enhance their creative-thinking abilities and enhance their team development skills.
