Father Greg Labus, left, and Lee Gwozdz with a photo of the young Dr. Guadalupe Rivera, Jr. between them will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary Gala Concert on June 20.
In 1984, 30 years ago, the Diocese of Corpus Christi hired Lee Gwozdz and Greg Labus as the new directors of music for the diocese and Cathedral. Since that time, hundreds of singers have been members of the Cathedral Choir. All past and present Cathedral Choir members have been invited to perform for this 30th Year Reunion Gala Concert on June 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Corpus Christi Cathedral.
Under the direction of Gwozdz and Dr. Guadalupe Rivera, Jr., the Cathedral Choir and alumni will be accompanied by members from the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra. Returning for this special reunion will be Father Greg Labus, who served as Associate Director of Music at the Cathedral for 17 years before becoming a priest for the Diocese of Brownsville. The program will include sacred hits and favorites that have been loved and cherished for the past three decades in the resounding space of Corpus Christi Cathedral.
The 30th Anniversary Gala Concert is free. For more information call (361) 888-7444.
