Regular offertory provides funds for the day-to-day operating costs of individual parishes. The Annual Appeal supports the many shared ministries of the dicoese. One parish alone cannot provide these ministries but together as a diocese we can support the work of the church in our entire area.
Just as you have a weekly or monthly gift to your parish, we ask you to consider a monthly gift to the dicoese. Your gift can be set up automatically on the day you choose to charge to a credit or debit card or a draft from your bank account. You will receive one request letter each year asking you if anything needs to change or if you would like to increase your gift. You will aslo receive a total statement at the end of the year. Overall this helps reduce mail both on request letters and on monthly statements.
We really do not know much about your family’s financial situation, but we encourage you to consider a gift that best complements your propensity for sacrificial giving. Gifts to the dicoese ought to be equal in sacrifice, not necessarily equal in dollar amount and it is our hope that your giving reflects this measure. Perhaps it is more appropriate for your family to consider a gift on another level. We recognize that your financial situation is unique, and, ultimately, your thoughtful decision will be most appropriate.
No intrusive research of your financial wherewithal was conducted, and request amounts are based primarily upon your past generosity and also the financial needs of the Diocese and our parish. You are simply being asked to consider a gift at a specific level and it is our hope that you give this request some thought and prayer.
Parishioners are asked to sign commitment cards so that the gift may be appropriately acknowledged and documented, enabling the Diocese to send payment reminders. Pledges are not legally binding.
