La Antorcha Guadalupana Race will make a stop on Oct. 23 at 4:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Pilar Church. There will be Matachines, Aztec and Gudalupanas dancers. These pilgrims who cross Mexico and the United States pray for the intercession of María de Guadalupe to carry her message of love in the unity of peoples, cultures and families.
Every year the Guadalupana Torch Race (pilgrimage/walk) organized by the Tepeyac Association, passes through the diocese of Corpus Christi. The Torch will travel from the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico to the Basilica of St. Patrick in New York.
Thus far the Torch was carried by 8000 runners, in relays, in nine states of the Mexican Republic. The torch crossed the border on Oct. 20, from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, to Laredo Texas, and after advancing by 13 States of the American Union, will arrive in New York on Dec. 12.
