On Saturday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. join St. John of the Cross (200 S. Metz St, Orange Grove) in celebrating the Grand Opening of their Works of Mercy Food Pantry. State Representative Chuy Hinojosa will be part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony and all are welcome to tour the facility.
The St. John of the Cross Works of Mercy Food Pantry has helped 40 families this year alone, and thru the H-E-B Bread and Pastry deliveries and with the Coastal Bend Food Bank distribution, 600 families have received assistance. Thanks to the generosity of the community providing dry goods and nonperishables, the Food Pantry is growing in success.
To keep the St. John of the Cross Works of Mercy mission going strong the parish is in need of someone who has a large truck, preferably a cargo truck, to help with the pickup and distribution of the H-E-B bread and pastries on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
