Catholic Charities’ Office of Ministry & Life Enrichment for Persons with Disabilities along with the Diocese of Corpus Christi Office of Multicultural Ministry are working together in promoting throughout our diocese Deaf Awareness Month.
We have several videos and gatherings facilitated by many of our brothers and sisters who are deaf and those who serve in the ministry.
Sun., Sept. 3, 9:30 AM: Celebration of the Holy Mass at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, 505 N. Upper Broadway to begin our Deaf Awareness Month in prayer. Come and learn more about our Deaf community and how you can get involved. Click for flyer.
Sat., Sept. 9, 10 AM– 12 PM: Most Precious Blood Church, 3502 Saratoga Blvd. Religious Signs Workshop. Learn religious words in American Sign Language, interpreter tips for each part of the Mass and much more! 1-3 PM: Encountering God in Personal Prayers. Annmarie K. Wed., Sept. 20 7 p.m.—8:30 p.m.. Family Game Night at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (parish hall) 204 Dunne St., Robstown. Jaime Lugo and others will lead participants with games to interact and communicate with one another using American Sign Language.

Based on figures from the 2005 National Health Interview Survey and 2005 U.S. Census Bureau population figures for Texas, the total service population in 2005 was estimated to be more than 3.8 million people.
