Commissioning for Parish Catechetical Leaders, Parish Catechists, Youth Ministers, and ohers involved in parish lay ecclesial ministry:
Upon completion of the program (160 hours), and additional requirements*, students are ready to be officially commissioned as catechists or parish catechetical leaders by the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
In order to maintain commissioning status, one should request re-commissioning every five years following the original commissioning date. Current parish catechetical leaders and parish catechists are required to obtain a total of 100 ongoing professional development hours in order to be re-commissioned (20 hrs. per year). Formation Documentation Sheet must be provided. Hours include workshops and conferences of a religious nature sponsored by a Catholic institution.
Coursework through parish adult formation programs such as Symbolon and the Ascension Press studies may count towards on-going formation hours.

Time to complete the program for Commissioning
The program should be completed within five years. Workshops that are older than seven years must be retaken.

Workshops are open to any adult interested in continuing their faith formation or catechists, parish catechetical leaders, youth ministers and anyone who is pursuing commissioning in the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
