Young men and women learn about themselves, prayer, meditation and discernment

The 2nd Annual Vocation Retreat of the Diocese of Corpus Christi was held on Nov 6-8 at the Pax Christi Liturgical Retreat Center. Eighteen young men and women from parishes and universities in the diocese attended the event.

Bishop Michael Mulvey engaged the men and women, who ranged in ages of 17-30-years-old, in dialogue with a question and answer presentation. Other priests who spoke at the retreat were Father David Bayardo, Father Emilio Jimenez and Vocation Director Father Joseph Lopez.

Father Lopez celebrated Mass daily and retreatants were introduced to prayer through the Liturgy of the Hours, Lectio Divina and praying a specific rosary for vocations. Priests and women religious were available for an Emmaus Walk, "where retreatants were able to talk one on one with a sister or priest," Rachel Dimas, assistant to the vocation director, said.
