Track teams placed at TAPPS State Championship

Incarnate Word Academy varsity boys’ and girls’ cross country teams literally hit the ground running in Waco on Oct. 29 as they earned second place at the TAPPS 6-5A State Championship.

Senior Natalie Trevino received third place in the girls’ race and sophomore Mia Moore received ninth place. Both girls were named to the All-State First Team.

The girls’ team consists of Natalie Trevino, Mia Moore, Madeline Thorud, Claire Thomas, Remy Ellison and Anna Simank.

The boys’ team consists of Jacob Gonzales, Stevan Silva, Joseph Afuso, John “Jack” McNiff, Kevin Morrison, Trevor Creamean and Alejandro Carreno.

Before advancing to state, both teams earned first place on Oct. 15 at the TAPPS District Meet which was held at the school’s training site at Our Lady of Corpus Christi.
