CORPUS CHRISTI– CHRISTUS Health named Texas State Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, D-McAllen as the recipient of its 2012 CHRISTUS Health Eagle Award for his outstanding legislative leadership and strong commitment to health care issues. CHRISTUS Health presents the annual award to one or more lawmakers who share the health system’s mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
The award will be presented to Hinojosa on Thursday, Aug. 9, at 4 p.m. in the lower level of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial.
“The significant challenges facing lawmakers in health care policy require partnerships – to identify and solve the critical hurdles in providing quality care,” Sen. Hinojosa said. “It is an honor to receive this distinction from one of the best partners in health care today. That CHRISTUS recognizes my contributions speaks more to their ability to partner with lawmakers and work effectively and collaboratively.”
“Sen. Hinojosa deserves this award for the passion, integrity, hard work and intelligence he has brought to the policy debate affecting CHRISTUS Health, our patients and Texas’ health care provider community,” Pamela Robertson, president and CEO for CHRISTUS Spohn Health System said.
