CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - About 40 students in the “Voices That Care Club” at Blessed John Paul II High School organized and hosted the “Heart Prom” dance for disabled participants served by the Office for Persons with a Disability ministry of Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi. The prom was held at the high school on Sunday, Feb. 19.
The Voices That Care students were paired up as dates for the participants. Together, they attended Mass, dinner and the dance. The event was complete with the crowning of a Prom King and Queen Peter Rivera and Dora Moreida. Prince and Princess were Ralph Ramirez and Shana Lipstreu.
“It was the most wonderful and beautiful prom the participants had ever experienced and it was a day they will always remember,” Celia Mendez with Catholic Charities said. “The courtesy that the JPII students displayed to each and every one of the persons in our group will never be forgotten. It was great seeing the students being remarkable examples of Christian Stewardship.”
