Incarnate Word Academy Elementary Level students in Sonia Hall’s primary classroom celebrated the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross on Sept.14 with a lesson and activities. The lesson began with a story about “The Legend of the Three Trees,” all of whom dreamt about becoming something different in their future. However, they learned that God was thinking about something better for them. Following story time, the class painted crosses and enjoyed cross-shaped cookies. “Our students love learning about Jesus, so this lesson was very exciting for them,” Hall said. “They learned more about the Holy Cross that was used in the crucifixion of Jesus.” The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross celebrates the inspired effort of St. Helena, the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine, to find the true cross on which Jesus was crucified. |
