Elementary students celebrate
'Week of the Young Child'

During this week, April 18-22, Incarnate Word Academy Elementary Level’s pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms are celebrating the Week of the Young Child with various activities.
 
The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration which is hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The week celebrates early learning, young children, their teachers, and families.
 
Students enjoyed story time on Monday, April 18, with Mr. Kippy, whose real name is Clifford Charles Edge III, a popular storyteller from Portland. Mr. Kippy narrated “Little Red Riding Hood,” while students in costume acted out scenes from the story.
 
IWA’s pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms looked like a real-life Disney fairytale on Tuesday, April 19, as students were dressed as their favorite Disney characters.

The students will also participated in the Liturgy during an elementary level Mass on Wednesday, April 20, in the IWA Chapel.
 
Residents at Waterford Assisted Living Home will be visited on Thursday, April 21, by pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. The classes will sing to the residents and play a game of Bingo with them.
 
The pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students will end the week with a family picnic with their parents on Friday, April 22, from 11-11:45 a.m. Parents will read love letters to their children and enjoy seeing their children’s faces light up as they play with kites and bubbles.
