Incarnate Word Academy is continuing to provide events and activities to prepare students for college with an opportunity to visit with several college representatives on the IWA campus.
“Our students, and parents, can expect to learn more about the college application process at these visits,” Academic and Guidance Counselor Sherilyn Calhoun said. “We have several colleges and universities expected to visit our campus throughout the school year.”
At each college visit, students can meet one-on-one during school hours with representatives to learn about admission requirements, course offerings, campus environment, as well as other information pertinent to the college-selection process.
“College representatives are going to provide that insight of what it takes to be a competitive applicant,” Calhoun said. “They are also going to discuss topics such as scholarships, majors, and the importance of applying early.”
Representatives from three universities are scheduled to visit with interested students this week. Today, Sept. 5, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Texas A&M University-College Station will be on campus.
As the process of applying to and selecting a college becomes more and more competitive and complex, IWA is committed to providing students and families with college-planning resources.
One of the many ways IWA prepares its students for college is through its annual college fair, which will take place on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 4-6 p.m. in the school’s Mother M. Patricia Gunning Gymnasium.
College representatives who will be in attendance at the IWA College Fair include:
Baylor University, Duke University, Rice University, Texas A&M, Texas Christian University, Texas Tech, University of Texas, Yale University, University of the Incarnate Word and more.
