More than 40 sisters from different congregations throughout the diocese attended the March 7 Lenten Morning of Reflection held at the Pax Christi Liturgical Center.
Every year the Office of Consecrated Life holds two of these retreats a year, for Advent and Lent. "It is a time for the sisters to come together to become a part of and to reflect on some topic that will help them reflect the spirituality of that season," Sister Annette Wagner, IWBS Director of the Office of Consecrated Life, said.
The event began with Mass, which was followed by a short movie to give focus to the theme. "The theme was reflecting on God's love for me and how that love is expressed in the gifts we have received individually, which we can than share with others," Sister Annette said.
Afterwards the sisters were given questions to consider in prayer for at least an hour. After quiet reflection they came together in small groups to share the results of their reflection, which they then shared with the whole group.
Sister Annette said that when she observed the small groups "there were a lot of smiles," which told her, "they were truly reflecting on God's love and that gives you joy."
By the sharing in the large group discussion Sister Annette said, "the sisters gave me the impression they were rejuvenated in their commitment to be of service to others by using the gifts that they have."
