Sir Knight Ron Alonzo was elected and installed as the Texas State Council Knights of Columbus State Deputy on June 7 at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut. And Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey was installed as the State Chaplain for the Texas State Council last Saturday, July 6 at the Marriott Hotel in Houston, TX. During the June meeting, Alonzo received the State Deputy’s medal, blessed by Archbishop William E. Lori of Baltimore, and invested by Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly. At the organizational Meeting in Houston, the newly elected State Officers, the appointed District Deputies and the chaplains got together for their official installation.

The office of Knights of Columbus State Deputy carries with it the responsibility of serving as the jurisdiction’s chief executive officer and as the Supreme Knights Patrick E. Kelly's top representative in Texas. The Texas jurisdiction has a current membership of over 117,000. The late Billy Quintanilla, Past State Deputy and former Vice Supreme Master was the last State Deputy to represent the Diocese of Corpus Christi over 22 years ago. The last Corpus Christi Bishop to be State Chaplain was Bishop Rene Gracida from 1985-87.
Ron Alonzo is a St. Patrick Council #1202 member and served as Grand Knight for several years. Over 40 years as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Ron held numerous council, district, diocesan and State positions.
