On Aug. 14, Bishop Michael Mulvey celebrated a Mass at the Corpus Christi Cathedral in which he recognized the Burse Club for their contributions to help educate seminarians from the Diocese of Corpus Christi. The Burse Club was founded by the Corpus Christi Diocesan Council of Catholic Women to give people an opportunity to help the diocese pay for the education of our seminarians.
To join the Burse Club, an individual needs to pay a membership fee, and that money will be put into a fund that is given to the diocese. The diocese uses the interest from this fund each year to help with the education costs for the seminarians.
In order to promote this Burse Club, the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women sponsored the Burse Club Mass at which the seminarians were introduced. After Mass, a brunch was held in St. Joseph Hall to give seminarians an opportunity to meet and thank Burse Club members.
Father Joseph Lopez, Vocation Director for the diocese, introduced the seminarians to the women. Parents and families of the seminarians also attend the event.
