Father Ray Yrlas, Jr. celebrated Mass honoring the fifth graders at Sacred Heart School in Rockport. These students have been through Hurricane Harvey, moving to modular classes, enduring the pandemic, learning online and then the closing of the school during the 2021 freeze.
“We are so proud of them for all of their work throughout these years,” Principal Katherine Barnes said. “Most of them have been here since they were three-years-old.
“We at Sacred Heart School wish each one of them the very best in their future. May God be with each one of them,” she said.
The students are James Hunt, Braden Peterek, Jolene Giessel, Sienna Kearns, Adeline White, Diego Bernal, Tristan Duplaga, Mariah Ortiz, Addison Poteet and Sydney Barton. These students will be moving on to other schools to attend the next grade level.
