The Diocese of Corpus Christi Catholic school principals held a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Academy to review new ideas, approaches, strategies and implementations in order to create improved and robust school communities. The principals had a full agenda for the day's discussions.
Among the topics reviewed was the upcoming Catholic School Celebration scheduled for Thursday Jan. 26, 2017. It is a fundraiser designed to celebrate all Catholic Schools in diocese.
The principals also reviewed Diocesan Tuition Assistance Grants provided by the Kenedy Memorial Foundation and the process schools should follow, including the funding for the Diocesan Tuition Assistance.
Alfredo Cardenas, editor of the South Texas Catholic, made a presentation to principals on marketing their schools. Law enforcement officer Travis Page reviewed active shooter situations with the principals. Diocesan School Health Coordinator Diana Hernandez informed principals of the Safe Schools Program, CPR and first aid training and asbestos training. Therese Recinella, Ph.D. Director of Catechesis for the diocese described programs for teachers of religion and theology.
