June 17, 2024New Appointment of the Vicar General for the Diocese
For the good of the People of God in the Diocese of Corpus Christi, the Most Reverend Wm. Michael Mulvey, STL, DD, Bishop of Corpus Christi, has appointed the Very Reverend Paul Hesse as Vicar General, effective as of July 1, 2024. He will retain his duties as Pastor of Saint Pius X Parish in Corpus Christi.
“I want to thank the Very Reverend James G. Stembler for his seven years of service as the Vicar General,” wrote Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey. “I take the occasion to express my gratitude also for his years of priestly ministry in service to the People of God in the Diocese of Corpus Christi.” Father Stembler will continue to serve as the Rector of Corpus Christi Cathedral, the Parochial Administrator for Sacred Heart Parish in Corpus Christi, and the Chaplain to the Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration.
Reappointment of the Judicial Vicar for the Diocese
For the good of the People of God in the Diocese of Corpus Christi, the Most Reverend Wm. Michael Mulvey, STL, DD, Bishop of Corpus Christi, has reappointed the Reverend Monsignor Douglas Courville as Judicial Vicar, effective as of July 16, 2024, for a term of five years.
New Appointments for Pastors and Parochial Vicars throughout the Diocese
For the good of the People of God in the Diocese of Corpus Christi, the Most Reverend Wm. Michael Mulvey, STL, DD, Bishop of Corpus Christi, has made the following appointments, all effective as of July 10, 2024:
Reverend Peter Thenan, presently the Parochial Vicar of the Corpus Christi Cathedral and Sacred Heart Parish in Corpus Christi, as Pastor of Holy Family Parish and Immaculate Conception Parish in Taft.
Reverend John McKenzie, presently the Pastor of Holy Family Parish and Immaculate Conception Parish in Taft, as Pastor of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mission, and Saint Mary Mission in Corpus Christi and Saint Vivian Mission in Petronila.
Reverend Francis Sebastian, presently the Administrator of Saint Mary Parish in Freer, as Parochial Administrator of Saint James Parish in Bishop and Saint James Mission in Driscoll.
Reverend Angel Montana, presently the Parochial Vicar of Saint Theresa of the Little Flower Parish in Premont, as Parochial Vicar of Saint Joseph Parish in Alice and Parochial Administrator of Saint Peter Mission in Ben Bolt.
Reverend Kurian Joseph, presently the Parochial Vicar of Saint Joseph Parish in Alice and Saint Peter Mission in Ben Bolt, as Parochial Vicar of Saint Pius X Parish in Corpus Christi.
Reverend Richard Gutierrez, presently the Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Refuge Parish and Saint James the Apostle Parish in Refugio, and Saint Theresa of the Little Flower Parish in Woodsboro, as Parochial Vicar of Saint Joseph Parish in Beeville and Sacred Heart Mission in Pettus as well as Chaplain of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice William G. McConnell Unit in Beeville.

Retirement
Reverend Gabriel Coelho, Pastor of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mission in Corpus Christi and Saint Vivian Mission in Petronila, has been granted retirement status.
