Campaign 2013, the annual On-Air fundraiser benefiting 89.5HD KLUX will take to the air on Monday morning, Feb. 25. The five-day event is the primary fundraiser for the non-commercial station licensed to the Diocesan Telecommunications Corporation in the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
KLUX is in its 28th year of service to the community, offering a 24-hour format of easy listening music, news, public service and inspirational messages as well as a full slate of Catholic programming on Sunday Mornings.
Local dignitaries, guests, station personalities and volunteers will be making appeals and manning the phones, taking pledges from listeners during each of three daily segments during the campaign. The annual fundraiser is a principal source of operating revenue for the station, which does not receive government assistance and cannot sell commercial time. The goal for this year is $75,000.
Contributions can be made by calling the campaign line at (361) 289-6437 or by utilizing the secure Paypal link on the station website: http://klux.org/campaign.htm. Contributions are tax deductible.
KLUX was the first radio station in the Corpus Christi market to implement the digital HD standard for FM broadcast. The digital transmission also allowed the inauguration of CCN Radio and the Relevant Radio Catholic network on 89.5-2. The station is highly committed to public and community service; broadcasting more than 20,000 public service announcements each year, station manager Marty Wind said.
The station is also a key public communications tool of the Local Emergency Planning Committee; it has been recognized with the Outstanding Media Award by EMAT, (Emergency Managers Association of Texas) for its commitment to insuring that critical information is disseminated to the public during local emergencies.
