The Kieschnick Guest House, opened in 1986 as a home away from home for families
with loved ones in CHRISTUS Spohn hospitals, marked its 25th anniversary on Thursday, Sept. 15 with an open house.
Kevin Kieschnick, a descendant of Otto Kieschnick, represented the family at the event. Following welcoming remarks from Jane Dykes, Kieschnick House Coordinator, and Pam Robertson, President and CEO of CHRISTUS Spohn, the newly renovated house was blessed in a ceremony led by Brian Smith, Vice President of Mission Integration for CHRISTUS Spohn.
The transformation included new linens for all of the guest rooms, a flat screen TV, new and reupholstered furniture for the day room and guest dining rooms and updated bathrooms in each of the 20 rooms that are available for families. Renovations to the home were made possible through a donation by the Volunteer Association of CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline.
Families using the guest house must live at least 30 miles from Corpus Christi and have a close family member in one of CHRISTUS Spohn hospitals. First available accommodations go to individuals with loved-ones in ICU or Critical Care.
The rooms are an affordable $25 per night or a sliding scale managed by the guest house coordinator.
