Incarnate Word Academy will host its first ever campus-wide S.T.E.M. Festival on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. in the Mother Patricia Gunning Gymnasium.
The festival will showcase over 40 student-led exhibits focused on the subjects of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with students from the first grade through twelfth grade. A photo booth and a concession stand will also be available to festivalgoers.
Integrated into the curriculum beginning at the Elementary Level, S.T.E.M. classes are designed to teach students a diverse range of critical thinking and reasoning skills. These types of lessons enhance student collaboration, creativity, and communication skills while also preparing students for the future.
“We at IWA want to get students engaged at an early age, sparking their interest and facilitating their futures within the community,” High School Level Assistant Principal Darla Montano said.
