As we enter into Holy Week and during this Year of Mercy, we are reminded of the sanctity of human life and respect for human dignity. This week, the Incarnate Word Academy High School Level mission team traveled to Sacred Heart Church in Falfurrias for their annual mission trip. The group will respond to human suffering in areas impacted by the immigration crisis.
As one of the corporal works of mercy and in response to the Gospel of Matthew, “when I was thirsty and you gave me to drink,” the students traveled to McAllen on Monday, March 21 to visit a respite center, which provides food and clothing to undocumented immigrants. The students will also work with the South Texas Human Rights Center to build and deploy 10 life-saving water stations on Tuesday, March 22, in designated Brooks County areas and hold a prayer service on Wednesday, March 23, for unmarked graves at a cemetery in Falfurrias.
