Incarnate Word Academy High School presented a check of $3,000 to the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation (TOKC) on Jan. 30. The money raised by the high school level’s student council and solidarity fund, will go toward finding a cure for cancer that attacks children and teenagers.
“We would like to challenge all schools in the Corpus Christi area to match our contribution,” student council member Stevens Herbst said.
The check was presented to Mecklin Ragan, the sister of James Ragan, a Corpus Christi native and founder of the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation.
James Ragan was previously scheduled to meet with students, who were eager to meet with him to present the check to his foundation. However, James Ragan was unable to attend due to his illness.
Mecklin Ragan spoke on behalf of her brother about his battle with bone cancer and his mission with the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation.
The high school level plans on raising funds each year for the foundation as part of National Catholic Schools Week.
