Incarnate Word Academy was named runner-up at the Regional Mock Trial Competition on Feb. 6 at the Nueces County Courthouse.
Sophomore Sofia Aguirre received second place and junior J.R. Ramos received third place in the best attorney category. Sofia earned a $2,300 scholarship and J.R. earned a $1,500 scholarship.
Junior Kesi Harris received third place in a three-way tie in the best witness category. Kesi earned a $350 scholarship.
The school sponsor is Cathy Tyree and the team's advisor were Debra Rodriguez and Heather Moretzsohn.
The mock trial team consists of four student attorneys: Sofia Aguirre, J.R. Ramos, Santiago Mendizabal, and Devon Molina; six student witnesses: Kesi Harris, Molly Hoffman, Ashley Elliott, Olivia Stanton Moretzsohn, Devon Molina, and Jessica Bang; and two time keepers Ashley Elliott and Kesi Harris.
