IWA middle level student places at Private Schools Interscholastic Association (PSIA) State Meet

Gabriel Rauen, a seventh grader at Incarnate Word Academy Middle Level, placed first in the maps, graphs, and charts category at the Private Schools Interscholastic Association (PSIA) State Meet on April 26. A total of six students qualified to compete in the PSIA State Meet after they placed in the PSIA District Meet in February.

In addition to placing first in maps, graphs and charts at the PSIA State Meet, Gabriel advanced to the State Geography Bee in Bedford on April 4, after placing first in the IWA Middle Level Geography Bee and passing a qualifying exam. At the State Geography Bee, Gabriel made it through the first eight rounds of competition before moving on to the main stage. He tied for 12th place before being eliminated. This is the second year that Gabriel has advanced to the State Geography Bee.
