Incarnate Word Academy honors Dr. Hector P. Garcia

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Incarnate Word Academy observed Dr. Hector P. Garcia Day with a Mass on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 8:30 a.m., to honor his life and his contributions to the Corpus Christi area and the U.S.
 
Dr. Garcia was a physician, surgeon, civil rights advocate, community leader, political activist and founder of the American G.I. Forum. His contributions were significant in the areas of justice, education and health.
 
Dr. Garcia’s daughter, and IWA graduate, Cecilia Akers said a few words about her father following the Mass.
