Patrick Hebert built eight picnic tables at St. Paul the Apostle for the parishioners to enjoy during festivals held at the parish throughout the year. Building the picnic tables was his project to be recognized as an Eagle Scout, scouting highest honor.
Hebert has been working toward this goal since he became a Tiger Cub 12 years ago. It takes many years in scouting and lots of camping trips and adventures to earn the required amount of merit badges and rank advancement to get to this point in a scout's career.
This past June, Hebert–with the help of Troop 16, the grace and willingness of Father Peter Martinez, pastor of St. Paul the Apostle church in Flour Bluff, the blessed generosity of the parishioners, and the tremendous help of the Knights of Columbus–was able to make his goal a reality.
Now that the tables are done, he needs to finish a workbook and go through the Boys Scouts of America process to become the third Eagle Scout in the Hebert family.
"As the parents of Eagle Scout candidate, Patrick Hebert, we would like to thank Troop 16 in Flour Bluff and Father Peter Martinez of St. Paul the Apostle for their support of Patrick's Eagle Scout Project," Hebert's mother Laura Hebert said.
She also thanked "the generous parishioners" who donated funds to make the project a reality, and the Knights of Columbus of St. Paul's for supplying the workshop and hosting the workshop party's over three days.
