Sister Raquel D. Gomez, MJMJ, assistant administrator of The Ark Assessment Center and Emergency Shelter for Youth, receives a $958.60 donation from Gypsy Motorcycle Club International-Calallen chapter members. The members made the donation in honor of William “Handy Andy” Strickland, a chapter member who died in 2009.
The Ark, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is the only licensed facility within an 80-mile radius contracted by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to provide emergency shelter and assessment services for up to 37 children and youth ages 0 through 17 who are removed from their homes by Child Protective Services (CPS) due to physical abuse, sexual abuse or neglect by a parent or guardian.
