Eighth graders at Incarnate Word Academy Middle Level learned about building community among each other as part of their fall retreat on Friday, Aug. 28, at Camp Zephyr in Sandia. Students participated in icebreaker games, obstacle courses, trust exercises, Scripture reading, reflection and Body of Christ group work.
“The camp’s activities included leadership and team building, communication and Christian community activities,” religious studies teacher Sister Agueda Oviedo, IWBS said.
IWA eighth graders participate in two retreats a year with their class–once at the beginning of the year and once at the end of the year prior to graduation from the middle level.
These retreats are a time for students to come together outside of the regular school setting to explore, experience and reflect on the presence of God in their lives and to share this experience with one another as they prepare for high school.
