Lenten Mercy Project

Week 1 ~ March 8^th – 9th

“Feed the Hungry”

Donations are being made to Gifts of Love which is based in Avon, CT. This organization helps meet the basic needs of individuals and families in Central Connecticut experiencing a financial crisis so they can achieve and maintain self-sufficiency.

*Items Needed:

· Cereal

· Canned fruit & vegetables

· Apple sauce

· Pasta sauce (plastic jars or canned)

· Canned pasta (ravioli, spaghetti & meatballs etc.)

· Canned soup (esp. chicken noodle – no tomato)

· Beans (dried or canned)

· Meal Helpers (boxed potatoes/rice, Hamburger Helper, taco kits)

· Jelly

· Toiletries (no travel/sample sizes please)

Collection bins for the Mercy Project will be located in the vestibule and atrium. Please bring collections to Church by the weekend of March 8^th – 9th

Monetary donations are also welcome. Envelopes labeled “Lenten Mercy Project” are available on the Mercy Project collection tables and may be placed in the basket along with your regular offertory or dropped off in the parish office.

Parents…don’t forget about our “Children Making Change” Lenten Giving Program. Please remind your children to bring their loose change to Religious Ed. each Sunday! Money collected will be used to purchase needed items for Covenant to Care, an organization which mobilizes and channels the generosity of caring and faithful people to advocate for, mentor and provide direct assistance to Connecticut’s children and youth who are neglected, abused or at-risk.
