Former CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice chief executive Dominic Dominguez will will now serve CHRISTUS Spohn and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa as senior vice president group operations. He will assume this role March 7.
Dominguez is an experienced leader with an intimate knowledge of CHRISTUS, as he began his career as a clinical pharmacist at CHRISTUS Spohn. During his time in the Spohn region, Dominic quickly took on greater responsibilities, eventually leading the Alice hospital. Under his leadership, Spohn Hospital Alice opened its doors in 1999 and achieved an occupancy rate of 90 percent in its first year, with patient satisfaction scores in the 99th percentile.
Dominguez since relocated to the San Antonio area to serve in leadership roles as CEO of St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital, North Central Baptist Hospital, and Metropolitan Methodist Hospital. Most recently, he led Methodist Healthcare System as its chief operations officer. While in his role with Methodist, he oversaw a system similar in size to the CHRISTUS division he will now lead.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dominic back into the CHRISTUS family,” said Gene Woods, CHRISTUS Health president and chief operating officer. “I am confident he will wisely guide our Santa Rosa and Spohn ministries as we work together with our excellent local leaders to successfully navigate industry changes ahead to continue to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”
For his part, Dominquez said, “I am excited to return to a faith based health system setting and am honored to have the opportunity to help set the course for CHRISTUS Santa Rosa and CHRISTUS Spohn as we continue to meet the health care needs of our communities.”
Pamela Robertson will continue as President and CEO of CHRISTUS Spohn, and Ken Haynes will continue as President and CEO of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa. Both will report to Dominguez.
