Faithful in the Diocese of Corpus Christi responded with generosity to the call from the Diocese of brownsville for help for immigrant refugee children.
An Urgent call for assistance is being made for immigrant refugee children in the Rio Grande Valley who have crossed into the United States and now are being released from federal holding areas. The large numbers are taxing the resources in that area.
Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley and the Diocese of Brownsville are in need of basic supplies to assist these children including pregnant mothers who are with them. The Diocese of Corpus Christi is issuing an appeal for donations to include the following items.
Bottled Water
Non-perishable food items, i.e., can soups, beans, tuna, etc.
New pack of children's underwear (male and female)
Socks
New women's undergarments
Donations are being received at the Mother Teresa Shelter located at 513 Sam Rankin Ave., in Corpus Christi on Sunday, June 22, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. All donations will be transported to the Valley for distribution early next week.
Monetary donations are also being accepted. Make checks payable to the Diocese of Corpus Christi, for Refugee and Children Relief.
The public’s cooperation and support in assisting these children would be greatly appreciated.
