In response to the growing need to serve young adults in Beeville and the surrounding area, the Diocese of Corpus Christi will break ground for a new Campus Ministry and Young Adult Building at Coastal Bend College in Beeville on Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. The new 4,000 square-foot building will be able to accommodate 180 people with a large community room, chapel, two meeting rooms and a kitchen.
The project is being made possible through the Legacy of Faith - Future of Hope Capital and Endowment Campaign of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, which has raised $500,000 from local Catholics for the project. This, together with a $250,000 grant from the John G. and Marie Stella Kenedy Memorial Foundation, will fund the new construction.
Coastal Bend College in Beeville, serves more than 1,000 students, who can all benefit from the new Campus Ministry Center and the increased attention it will bring to their spiritual needs.
Construction is expected to begin immediately with completion expected in the fall of 2016.
The ceremony will take place at the intersection of Charco Rd. and Louise Dr., across the street from Coastal Bend College. Bishop Michael Mulvey of Corpus Christi and Dr. Beatriz Espinoza, President of Coastal Bend College, will join other local dignitaries for the groundbreaking with ceremonial shovels.
