On Wednesday, Oct. 26, Bishop Michael Mulvey of Corpus Christi, together with a host of dignitaries and students, broke ground for a $2.1 million addition to the Newman Center located adjacent to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The new 6,285 square feet addition will provide a chapel and office space for the center.
Catholics from throughout the Diocese of Corpus Christi are making the new construction possible as part of the Legacy of Faith - Future of Hope capital and endowment campaign, together with a $500,000 grant from the John G. and Marie Stella Kenedy Memorial Foundation.
Construction will begin immediately, with completion expected in the fall of 2017.
