The Corpus Christi Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (CCDCCW) hosted the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) Province of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston Winter Meeting entitled, “
We Sowersof Hope” at St. Gertrude Parish Hall in Kingsville on Feb. 5-6.
During Friday's business meeting Rose Castillo from Austin DCCW was elected Province Director-elect for 2016-2018. Castillo will be installed as Province Director of the NCCW Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston at the NCCW National Convention in September in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The business meeting was presided by Cynthia McCoy, from the Diocese of Tyler and current Province Director for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. After the meeting attendees were treated to dinner and participated in a game of Bunco.
On Feb. 6, trainers Mary Matheus of Longwood, Florida (who is currently serving her second term as NCCW treasurer) and Jody Watermann of Aurora, Ilinois brought years of experience in leadership to the 69 women in attendance at the leadership training development program for women of the NCCW Province of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
Team presenters introduced topics that included cycle of an organization, leadership and development, brainstorming, problem solving, membership, recruitment, retention, mentoring, creativity, reflection and ended by giving a summary wrap-up. Everyone in attendance received an NCCW LTD certificate.
Attendees of the Saturday session met with Bishop Michael Mulvey at lunch. The group attended Mass celebrated by Father James Stembler, pastor at St. Gertrude Church. Father Stembler also serves as Spiritual Advisor for NCCW, Province of Arch Diocese of Galveston Houston and Corpus Christi DCCW.
