The Cathedral Concert Series & Citgo will present “A Centennial Choral Spectacular” featuring the Cathedral Choirs and members from the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Lee Gwozdz and Dr. Guadalupe Rivera, Jr. on Friday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m.
The concert, held at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, is the finale for Season 28 of the Cathedral Concert Series and celebrates the Centennial Jubilee of the Diocese of Corpus Christi. The highlight of the evening will be a performance of John Rutter’s “Gloria” and the concert premiere of “Centennial Hymn” arranged by Eugene Gwozdz, commissioned in celebration of the Centennial Jubilee by the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
The concert will feature the voices of the Cathedral Pontifical Chorale, Youth Chorale, Choristers, Schola Cantorum and Cherub Choirs under the direction of Lee Gwozdz and Dr. Rivera. Attendees will experience music from all periods accompanied by members from the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and Cathedral Grand Pipe Organ.
“Past Choral Spectacular’s have been treating Coastal Bend music lovers to standing room only performances in the resounding space of Corpus Christi Cathedral. Truly a concert not to be missed,” Lee Gwozdz said.
Open to the public at no charge, the Cathedral doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for general seating. A love offering will be taken up during the concert. For more information and VIP passes call (361) 888-7444.
