Catholic Charities and RAICES, the only two non-profits in the region providing comprehensive immigration legal services and representation to the immigrant community, will provide an immigration workshop on Feb. 19, at Salon Fiesta Latina located at 3903 Ayers Street in Corpus Christi. The session begins at 6 p.m.
This is a free event that will focus on benefits associated with the Presidential Executive Action announced in November 2014. Attorneys will give information and answer questions about the new Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA) and the extended Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
According to the Migration Policy Institute, there are 593,000 individuals in Texas who are eligible for these programs.
"We want the community to know that we are a resource, and we want to make sure as many individuals who are in need of support, receive it," said Carrie Chavez Thompson, Director/Attorney at Law with Catholic Charities, Immigration Services.
Since 1986, both RAICES and Catholic Charities' Immigration & Refugee Services have been serving the immigrant community and providing access to legal services and education to qualified individuals.
